Mackinac Island, Michigan

The next morning, on Thursday, after arriving at Houghton Lake, we got up early and took a day trip up to Mackinac Island. It's about a 2 hour drive north, then you take a 20 minute ferry over to the Island. What a treat, if you ever get a chance to go, you won't be disappointed. No cars are allowed on the Island, only bicycles and horse carriages.

The Grand Hotel from The ferry boat. Originally built in the late 1800's, this place is beautiful! Reminded me of being on the Titanic.

Liam looks so funny is this pic~ :)

Ofcourse, I have to snap all the dogs I see along the way.

One of the many beautiful houses.
After 6 o clock in the evening, men must be be in coat and tie and ladies must be in dresses, no pants for the ladies. This applies to hotel quests as well.

The hotel grounds.
THe main dining room where we had lunch.
The view from our table.

The Front Porch of the hotel.

Three pictures below this one is the same pic from over a hundred years ago. Crazy.

Bonnie, another dog who goes to work with his mommy in one of the boutiques we went into.

What a day! We had a great time and we hope to be able to visit again!

Craig and I originally booked a trip to Mackinac Island this summer for a short weekend getaway but decided to hold off when we can go for longer than a weekend since it's a 8 hour drive from Chicago. Glad you liked it, hopefully I will go next summer. I'm trying to explore the midwest while I'm up here. Liam is the cutest thing EVER and you and Bill look great!

Aww!! I love his little outfit!! Yall have been a busy family it looks like. Glad you're having fun though. I think it's great that you can take Liam everywhere with you like that. It's a great learning experience for him and awesome memories for the family. :)
